“Cigarette smoke smell everywhere”

  , San Gabriel
1) I'm a non-smoker, got a non-smoking room, and the room smelled like smoke. I couldn't sleep well the first night b/c the smoke smell triggered my allergies. I aired out the room next day and it was better, but the room still smelled funny. All the hallways smell like smoke. On the 3rd day, I realized my room smelled like smoke again. I stood a few feet from my door on the inside, and smelled it really strongly, it was probably from the hallway. They really need to separate the smokers from the non-smokers by floor - none of this mixing of smoking and non-smoking on the same floor.2) The staff tried their best, but the front desk staff seemed understaffed and people were always waiting longer than they should to resolve their wait issue. They could use 2 people during the daytime at the front desk.3) This is a 3-story building, but it has no elevator. They really need to install an elevator.4) There is no security to access the front door to your room. Anyone can walk in the building and walk right up to the door of your room. This occurred to me when I saw a white guy that was really angry pacing the floor when I came up to my floor (3rd). He saw me and then turned back. Then knocked loudly on one room and leaned on the door like he had no patience to get in. The door opened and he growled at the young woman behind who opened it. She backed up and protested "but I didn't do anything!" I saw him get angry with her and I was really scared that he was going to hit her. They closed the door and you could hear yelling and her protesting. Luckily, the maintenance man saw the situation and told me to go back to my room (for safety). He hung outside the door to see if anything bad would happen. He intervened by knocking and the angry guy burst out and left. I'm glad this maintenance man had good sense, and this situation didn't seem characteristic of the whole hotel, but it did impress on me that anyone could come up.5) The breakfast felt lacking. The microwave in the lobby was very dirty inside. It should be cleaned daily.6) The pros: it's next to the northernmost Denny's and within walking distance of other eateries, It's not far from the airport. They take care of your airport RT, I got the room at a budget price.
