“Dissapointing standards. Budget should be better than this.”

I've stayed in budget hotels, motels, backpacker hostels, all over the world. But the standards of this Super 8 leave a lot to be desired. Yes you get what you pay for with budget accommodation but this didn't deliver on the basics. I was traveling as a group of 26-32 year old males, so not the pickiest type of people. We just wanted a clean room, not to far from the City Center.Check in was a dreadfully slow and painful process, even though I had prepaid upfront. My confirmation email had not mentioned the room was smoking, so after a brief look at what can only be described as an ashtray, we asked to upgrade to a different room. Queue another long and painful process before eventually getting our room. During this process some of our friends not on the same booking discovered sheets with stains on along with hairs in their room. As well as the bathroom being unclean. In another room our friend found the remains of a takeaway that the cleaner had failed to remove. The receptionist looked at them blankly and just stated she had no cleaner working at the moment. I'm not really sure why she felt that would appease them. Two of my friends decided this was too much and moved to another hotel nearby. The next day the manager spoke to them but offered no way of a refund, credit note, or even a sincere apology. Our room, whilst clean at the very least, had a TV that must have been at least ten years old, which would intermittently switch itself off. No reason or pattern to why this happened. I work with TV's myself, so I checked enough to know it was probably down to being very old rather than a user error.Breakfast was a complete waste of time. Awful coffee. No pastries aside from the odd cupcake. Poor selection of cereal. Super 8 as a brand aren't bad normally, but this branch is appalling. For your own sake keep away from it and spend a little more if necessarily.
