“Lucky I wasn't robbed...”

  , Springfield
We stayed at the 1790 Aeroplaza Dr. Super 8 in Colorado Springs July 21-23. My friend and I both left the room by 9:30am on the 22nd, but when my friend returned at 7pm, the deadbolt had been turned in such a way that the door was left open and anyone could have wandered inside. Lights were left on. When my friend informed the woman at the front desk, she said that it was probably housekeeping who left it open to get more towels or something. My friend was then informed that housekeeping usually comes between 9 and noon. Was our room open for 7 hours? We will never know. When I arrived, my friend had already shut the door and our keys had been deactivated. When I went to the front desk to tell them our keys would not work, the woman there did not ask for my ID to verify who I was, she simply re-activated the keys to our room. Security is seriously lacking, here. Then, when we nicely asked to just be moved to a different room to feel more safe and secure there, we were informed there were no more rooms. We asked if she could call a manager (who we were informed was not supposed to be there until the next afternoon) to see if we could get a refund for our room. In the process of this, the woman at the front desk answered phone calls and checked others in. This wouldn't have been a big deal, if we hadn't heard her quoting room prices and giving directions to someone who obviously did not have a reservation. So much for no rooms available. Later that night, my friend saw/heard the woman checking in another family who did not have a reservation. Will not return. My parents, who usually stay there for a week at a time once each year, are booking somewhere else this year!
