“Might as well have slept outside”

After packing up to move to Arizona and driving seven hours, we arrived in Chandler around 1 a.m. I'd researched pet-friendly hotels in the area since I would be arriving too late to board my cat at PetSmart, so I was already limited on my choices. This hotel got decent reviews on Yelp, so I thought it would be a fine place to stay for the night.I was wrong.Upon arrival in the room, the air conditioner was off (and being this is June in Chandler, Arizona, we're talking HOT). Exhausted, I hoped that the room would cool down to a comfortable temperature in a reasonable amount of time. It did not. The room got slightly cooler, as much as the outdated air conditioner would allow, but I would guess it was at least 85-90 degrees in there, even in the middle of the night. Rather than pack up my entire room at 3 a.m. and try to get into another hot room, we just waited it out until morning. I complained to the front desk and found out that I was not the only one complaining about this: Several other customers were in the same boat. Turns out, the front desk associate (who was very friendly) informed me that since the hotel was taken over by new management, the cleaning ladies were instructed to TURN OFF the air conditioning in all of the rooms when they were unoccupied. This meant this room had sat there, baking hot with the drapes open, for who knows how long. Anyone who's been to Arizona in the summer knows this is ridiculous. If you are looking for a place to stay in the Chandler area, avoid this place when it's warm (which is all but a few months of the year). The staff was nice enough, so my only complaint is for the management's policies. Oh, the pool was also green and there was a random sock on the floor of the room when I walked in, so I'm not sure how clean those rooms get.
