“Nice Out-of-the-Way Hotel”

  , Indianapolis
This Super 8 (Hazen, AR) was a little diamond in the rough. We were looking for a pet-friendly hotel on our way home from Texas and my brother-in-law recommended this little place. It was not at a very busy exit off of I-40, so it was a relatively quiet area, only a couple gas stations, a Mexican restaurant, and another hotel. There was plenty of grassy area around the hotel to walk our dog and there was little foot traffic after dark so the dog wasn't disturbed by a lot of noise and rowdy guests. The furnishings were a little shabby, but really, for only a night or two, it was serviceable. Our room had a very comfortable king-sized bed and also included a mini fridge and microwave - very handy. The shower head was a little low, though, and my 6' 2" boyfriend had a hard time washing his hair.Continental breakfast was only so-so, but honestly, the friendliness of the desk clerks both at check-in and check-out were superb enough to overlook bland breakfast stuffs. The only real drawback was that there weren't many places to eat nearby nor were there any shops to pick up any necessities. You had to make do with the Mexican restaurant (that turned out to be REALLY tasty) but if you don't like Mexican, you were out of luck. For sundries or snacks, you had to make do with the gas station next door. However, given how quiet this area was for us and for the puppy, we are definitely considering staying here the next time we have to visit family inTexas.
