“Call ahead and get a grip on the parking situation”

  , Rochester, Ny
The only complaint I have was that since we were coming by car, it's not like we could pull up into the lobby area, check in, and then ask for advice on where to park. We had to find and pay for parking first. I found a nearby lot and paid $13 because I figured we'd be parking there overnight, but the little ticket thingy that printed out only showed until midnight, the machine wouldn't let me buy any more time. Nonetheless we went to the hotel and THEN found out that the hotel offers $10 nightly parking in a nearby lot. So, I had to eat the $13 and park there instead. Then, they didn't tell me that in order to get out and come back, you essentially have to pay whatever it is to park there for that amout of time, so I ended up paying another $4 to get out because we had to head out for a concert. We also didn't know that when we came back at around midnight, that the lot would be closed! So again, I had to find another nearby lot and pay another $12 so we could walk back to the hotel and go to sleep and not find my car towed somewhere in the morning. Now, this might not be so much of a surprise for those who deal with downtown city traffic and parking all the time, but it would have been nice to read this explanation somewhere on the website or something, or for the girl at the front desk to at least explain a little more detail than what she did.Aside from the parking, everything else was OK. It is a good location if you like to walk around Chinatown, which we did for a little while. The sheets on the bed were a little "itchy" but they were clean, so that was good. The hotel is actually sort-of in a mall, and our window faced inwards towards the mall, which was unique. The breakfast was sub-par. For what we paid I would have expected a little better. Every hotel should have a waffle maker machine and little cups of batter so you can make your own waffles. It's things like that that seem to make all the difference.Oh, also, the internet speed was completely unuseable unless you were in the lobby area. They should spring for more wireless repeaters, they are really cheap nowadays.Next time I'm sure I can find some other place that has a hot tub and better breakfast.
