“Hiking SE Missouri”

  , Des Moines
We wanted a good locatin for hiking Taum Sauk, Shut-Ins, Elephant Rocks and the Ozark Trail and Farmington fit the bill. This Super 8 hotel was listed as the least expensive option in the town. The room typical meaning the air conditioner unit offered a "used" smell and why they keep carpet on the floor of hotel rooms remains a mystery to me! One test for me is whether the bathtub drains as fast as the shower provides: YES! Bonus points for that. You just about get what you pay for these days and we only look for a place to sleep, not live in. The free breakfast will only meet the minimal expectations (toast and coffee), but again, we had no expectations. It was great to use the town to reach our hiking destinations, the hotel area offers plenty of eating options (24 hours too!), and other necessities that might come up. The front desk staff was prompt and efficient and nothing bothered our sleep (of course, after a day of hiking...).You ALMOST get what you pay for. If they replaced the carpet with tile in the room and offered something decent for breakfast I would recommend this hotel. Otherwise, it is an acceptable option that is fairly easy on the pocketbook.
