“NOT a value”

I actually looked at some reviews in Trip Advisor and someone had rated this hotel excellent, among other decent reviews, so I thought I would give it a try.I'm not sure if I ended up at a different location, or if those reviewers are family members, but this place is a dump. I will say that the hotel manager on staff when I came in the evening was very nice. However, I asked if this was the one that was newly renovated, and he gave me a few minute lecture on how this hotel chain is constantly updating and renovating, rather than doing it every 10 years. This place looked like it was furnished with items from the Goodwill. Everything from the bedspreads to the furniture looked outdated and sleazy, and the"non-smoking" room had a stale cigarette odor. My "free WiFi" internet connection didnt work, which caused my email to fail to send. The TV was old, the mini-fridge didn't seem cold, and some of the lights did not turn on. I came in at about midnight after being on the road for 10 hours and was too tired to complain. The continental breakfast was okay..but I was put off when the lady asked me what room I was staying in, as if I were someone wandering in off the streets at 6:30 am for some free coffee and a bowl of instant oatmeal. I paid about 60 bucks, (after an AAA discount-- I can't believe they had the nerve to charge more for this joint), but for a place I had to drive 10 minutes off the interstate for, in a small town off the Tenn/GA border, it was not at all worth it, For less than 100, I had many better options. I'm not a complainer, but this was really just about fleabag quality.I would have felt more comfortable sleeping in my car.
