“Shuttle from O'Hare will take hours, but otherwise fine cheap place for an unexpected stopover”

  , Corvallis
It was very clean, seemed very secure, and had free wi-fi, which was great. I was a little irritated that I had to buy my own toothpaste and toothbrush from a vending machine (I had an unexpected layover at O'Hare) and that the raisin bran (the only breakfast available) was really stale. They were very busy, and very full by the time we could arrive (lots of delays at O'Hare that evening), so I can understand why the front desk clerk was frazzled and a bit curt. I thought the room was pretty nice, considering the low price, but we were in the room directly at the top of the stairs across from the lobby, so it was kind of loud and a little hard to sleep. The bathroom looked recently remodeled, so that was cool. Glad I didn't have to pay for my soap or shampoo at least. It wasn't anything special -- a relatively cheap stay, so I wasn't expecting much -- but it wasn't a horrible place to spend the night, either. If you're looking for a cheap place to wait out a layover at O'Hare, I'd recommend this spot. Otherwise, I'd say maybe look into something a little closer to town, maybe a little nicer.I really wish they had a bigger airport shuttle -- 5 seats for transporting guests meant people had to wait 1.5 hrs+ to get to the hotel from O'Hare, especially when there were families sharing a single room. That was the worst part of the stay -- waiting for the godawful-small shuttle. It made our night terrible (especially after running halfway across O'Hare to barely miss our 5-minute post-delay connection). I wish we could have gotten into a room faster and more smoothly than we did. We even made a reservation online beforehand, and still had a miserable, crazy, confusing wait, and ended up having to run down the shuttle, as it changed the airport shuttle departure door from which it was leaving without telling anyone. Even then, it looked like only the sympathy of the shuttle's occupants and the single remaining seat allowed us to get on without having to wait another 45 minutes. If you're scrambling for a bed instead of a night at O'Hare, this will seem like Heaven, once the shuttle picks you up. Otherwise, it's kind of so-so.
