“Nebraska City, NE/Percival, IA an embarrassment to Super8”

  , Evans, Ga
On our journey from WA to GA for a government transfer, we had to stay in pet friendly hotels, and the Percival, IA, Super8 was the only thing in that area that advertised as pet friendly. We booked their king suite room and forged on to Percival, outside Nebraska City. When we got there, the attendant said, "Yeah, well your cats are a problem. We don't allow cats." "I called ahead," said I. I reminded him that the hotel says "pets allowed," and not "dogs allowed." He repeated that the hotel does not allow cats and said, "Well, I'll allow them tonight because the manager's not here. She'll be here in the morning though, and you'll have to go out the back."We went upstairs to find that we had a small room with a queen-sized bed. I went downstairs to complain, and he said we'd have to take it because they had no kings. I reminded him that I had booked a king, and he again denied that they had any. Then he made an astounding confession: "We have problems with Internet bookings. We don't like them." So I insisted on a room with two queens. He gave me a different key for a room with two queens, and I went upstairs to find that it was a room with a king. Was the kid just dumb, or trying to give me a hard time? The room and the hotel itself was a dump. It was dirty and messy, which is what I guess I should expect of a place that's an extension of a Sapp Brothers truck stop. Still, got a good night's sleep and was on my way in the morning. But they didn't even offer coffee. No breakfast expected, but not even coffee. Avoid this hotel.
