Having never stayed in a Super 8 hotel prior to this stay, I was curious to see how this trip would fair. Right our of the gate, my Super * experience was a complete disaster. We were in Louisville, KY for a volleyball tournament and my family of five had reserved a nonsmoking room with two double beds and a pullout sofabed for two nights. We arrived at the hotel at 11:15pm after a four hour drive, and were ready to get to bed. When we checked in at the hotel, we were told that they had overbooked the hotel and the room we had reserved (2 months in advance) was not available. After 15-20 minutes of waiting, the clerk told me they had a smoking room available, but it only had two beds and no pullout sofabed. Since it was late at night and all other area hotels were booked, I had to accept the room and have one of my kids sleep on the floor. I asked the clerk if he was going to discount my room and he said the manager/owner would be in the next morning, and to talk to them about a discount.When we arrived at the hotel and headed to our room on the second night of our stay, we were greeted in the elevator with the smell of pot smoke. As soon as we got to the fourth floor (where our room was), the smell of marijuana was extremely intense. I let me family in the room and went down to the front desk to inform them of the stench on the fourth floor and was told by the clerk that "he wished the hotel would have a no smoking policy". That was the resolution I recevied by the front desk.When I went to check-out of the hotel, I spoke to the manager on duty about receiving a discount for the inconvenience of having my reserved room unavailable and having to settle for a smoking room and one of my children having to sleep on the floor. I was told the best they could do was to take $20 off of my stay. I did not feel this was a sufficient discount given the fact that I had to put my family in a smoking room and have a child sleep on the floor. This might have been my one and only stay in a Supr 8!!! « less
