“Clean hotel; rude staff”

We found the hotel to be clean and the room comfortable. The staff, however, was not very friendly. The check out was very slow; we were at the counter and the employee was doing something with her paperwork and didn't even acknowledge we were standing there until she finished doing whatever she was doing (which apparently was more important than helping us). Upon checkout, we asked to pay via debit card. The employee ran it on my credit card and asked me to sign. When I said, no, I asked for it to be on debit, she said, well it's too late and has to stay that way. I was very annoyed as now I have a charge on my credit card that I didn't want. I'm sure she could have easily reversed the charges and allowed me to pay the way I wished, but she didn't seem receptive to my request and I didn't want to have a confrontation. As soon as we were done, she went back to sitting in the breakfast area having her coffee. (I guess we must have interrupted her coffee break). That seemed to be more important that fixing her mistake. You need to train your front desk people in customer service!
