“Smoky lobby and entry”

  , Grand Lake
The minute we walked into the hotel we were met with the odor of cigarette smoke. It was pervasive throughout our stay. I mentioned it to one of the housekeepers and she blamed it on the people in a room across the hall from the laundry room (used by the housekeepers). When I pointed out that the smoke was coming from the laundry room, she agreed. During our 6 night stay, it became evident that there are a number of issues:1. Person or persons are smoking in the housekeeper's laundry room. That door is left open during their work day so the smoke goes straight out into the public areas.2. People were smoking right outside the front door of the hotel. The inside exterior door was propped open so whenever the outside exterior door was opened the smoke came into the public areas3. The sleeping rooms that are designated as "smoking" rooms and are waiting to be cleaned, have their doors propped open during the housekeeper's work day, so any smoke that was in those rooms also goes out into the public areas. Our sleeping room was smoke-free.The pervasiveness of the cigarette smoke in the public areas means we will not stay at this Super 8 again if we visit Duluth in the future. Our towels and washcloths were very rough and every day we were given "clean" towels. Our washcloths, however, were stained and some were ragged. At least one cereal choice needs to be something without sugar!
