“Excellent Value and Service- a Bit Noisy”

  , Torrance
Stayed here at the end of my Thanksgiving vacation to meet my boyfriend for the weekend. He just wanted a cheap place, and my friend lives nearby. Knowing nothing about the area and booking from Alamo, Nevada, I picked it on price, AAA discount, and the fact that there was breakfast. Didn't even bother to map out directions, as it is just off the 76. WRONG!!! there is no Mission Ave. exit. No problem- one quick question to a local and I was there. My boyfriend teases me for rejecting his Magellan! The staff were friendly and helpful, the room nice enough and clean, a great bargain for the price, and really only a couple of miles from the shore. The funky thrift store next door has a really helpful owner- and great prices! The walls are thin, however, and we had some night owls next door one night. They weren't horribly loud, but could be heard. I'm sure they felt the same way about us when we rose at 6am. The breakfast is standard continental plus a waffle maker. Word on the rates must be out, however- LOTS of large families. If you want a peaceful breakfast, rise early. It WAS Thanksgiving weekend, so perhaps that contributed. All in all, I would stay again. Plenty of food nearby, and the local flavor of two nearby bars, with the picturesque names of One More That's It and The Royal Dive. Be prepared for bikers and loud music at the first and nothing but beer at the second. An excellent selection, though. Friendly barkeep and patrons. We had a pretty good time. Be warned- there was a church service at the convention hall on Sunday. This may be a regular occurrence. I don't know. It didn't bother me, so I never asked.
