As per requested on your reservation, you were in a smoking room.I wish you had let us know you were not a smoker and we could have moved you to one of our non smoking rooms. In order to protect our guests we do have sensitive smoke alarms. The clerk had called the room when the alarm had gone off, to find someone had accidentally triggered the alarm.The clerk verified there was no danger and waited to reset the alarm and clear the smoke alarm by venting the room. It took a bit longer to clear the smoke alrm and thats why the alarm went off again.I hope you will give our Hotel another try and stay in one of our non smoking rooms. As you are aware we were in the process of painting all the rooms with low voc (less odor paint). Along with that came the chaos of workers and paint smells which we tried to contain by opening windows as much as we could. Unfortunately, as for staying a few hours over we did not have housekeeping in the evenings and with the loss of some of our rooms to these renovations our rooms had already been booked ahead. I hope the next time you are in Steubenville,Ohio you will give us another try and find our renovations completely to your satisfaction. Thank you for letting me know of your issue. I wish you had let our clerk know about the power strip and he could have given you one for the room. I am excited to say with the new renovations we are currently doing all our lamps have extra outlets right on them and are easyxc to access. Dear Anonymous,> As you have stayed with us numerous times you know we try to make our guests stay as comfortable as we can. Our rates as with most hotels,do go up and down periodically. When making a reservation we can only guarantee the reservation and make a special note for a room request. We are so glad your stays at the Super 8 here in Steubenville have been good ones. The hard boiled eggs and Bagels were a popular item for us. Our breakfast bar has now been changed to meet the Super 8 standards that are now implemented in Super 8's all around the U.S.A..
