“Pleasantly Surprised and Great Price!”

  , Winnipeg
We had difficulty finding a hotel in Regina for the May long weekend. By luck, one came available on-line at the Super 8 and we were able to book it for the 3 days (saving 20%) that we needed. I have to be honest, I was a bit leery booking this hotel because of the mixed reviews on Trip Advisor, but we decided to take the chance. I'm glad we did because we were pleasantly surprised by the hotel. Now, this is not a 4 star hotel, so in deciding on rating this hotel, I needed to keep in check that this is a 2 star hotel and not "the Hilton". The hotel is in the process of a face-lift and luckily, the construction was not occurring during the May long weekend so we didn't have to endure any inconvenience. The staff was very friendly and helpful during our 3 day stay and went out of their way to help out. Our room (and hotel) was very clean and our bed was comfortable. Everything worked except the room could use a new bathtub as the finish was worn and the toilet needed a quick and easy repair. Luckily, my husband is handy and stopped it from continuously running. We had our dog with us so we especially liked the fact that we were given a room near the back door. I really enjoyed exercising by dog on the winding bike/walking trail that was accessible at the end of the block. Each hotel room had new windows installed and the place was recently painted indoors. We noticed at the front foyer, there were many boxes that contained new bedding, so there are more upgrades to come. The outside of the hotel doesn't look great as they started to take the wood trim off of the building, so it looks like it is worn down, but keep in mind that it is under construction. The grass at the back of the property could use some TLC because there was a lot of litter in the small grassed area. We did not have our continental breakfast as we were up early each day and out quickly, but each day, the room was filled with people enjoying what was available to them. The hotel is situated in the eastern part of Regina, right across from any store you could ever want. Even though our event was across town each day, it didn't take long to get to the other side of the city. The most important thing to report on this hotel was that it was a very quiet place to stay. Even though it was the long weekend and the place was packed with people, we were not wakened by any excess noise inside or outside of the hotel. Quite impressive! We look forward to coming back to stay another time.
