“Super Eight allows a lot more of what you really want for a lot less”

  , Collinsville
I just returned to my home here in Thailand from a two week trip to the U.S. where I stayed in a number of hotels including four Super Eights in Collinsville, IL, Litchfield IL, Kelso, Washington and Shelton, WA. During this trip I also stayed at a Days Inn in Seattle and a Best Western in prestigious Gig Harbor, WA. The Best Western was a beautiful place, but it also cost $180 a night. Moreover, it's internet Wi Fi Internet service failed us repeatedly over a period of time extending from mid evening into the next morning. My first evening at the Days Inn in Seattle was a bit sub par compared to most Super Eights, but it was well located as it was within minutes of the airport. So I booked a second night at this Days Inn on August 1st, this time for August 7th when I'd be returning to Seattle from St. Louis and I reserved it on my credit card. When I tried to check into my room at 10 p.m. on August 7th with my nephew whose flight was delayed by two hours, we found that our room had been sold out from under us. All the nearby hotels around the airport had been fully booked so we had to pay for a taxi to take us to another hotel miles away. By contrast, all the Super Eights we stayed at had excellent wifi internet access and it didn't matter where I booted my laptop from. Each room was spacious enough for us to be comfortable and all the rooms were modestly priced. There was a good supply of coffee on hand starting with in the room where each packet of coffee was good for four small cups of coffee--unlike the Days Inns where a dwarfish packet of coffee would only produce a single small paper cup which had to be inserted in the midget sized coffee maker. And if there wasn't enough coffee in the room there was a good supply of it in the lobby. As far as breakfast, no...I didn't get a seven course breakfast buffet, but I could get some Cinnamon flavored oatmeal, and some tasty cinnamon rolls as well as a few other selections I could have had. Of all the places we stayed at, only the Super Eights hit all the right buttons for us. They had excellent service, great wifi internet, comfortable rooms and good locations on the major highways close to a number of restaurants. All the others in one way or the other lagged well behind the Super Eights. One was very attractive but the price we paid was way too much and the internet service just did not measure up. As for Days Inn--selling our room out from under us was unprecedented.
