“Turned away”

After driving over 700 miles from northern Michigan to the hotel in Knoxville, Tn. where we had a resevation made on-line, we were told by the clerk at the desk that we could not stay because we had a cat. When we made the reservation the on-line posting for this Super 8 indicated that pets were welcome. We have been staying at Red Roof Inns for many years because of their pet friendly policy. We decided to try Super 8 for this trip. Mistake!! The clerk said that the owner was alergic and she would loose her job if she let us stay, so we could try the Red Roof down the street. While we were at the desk,a guest was turned away because the hotel was full (U of T homecoming) and another guest with a dog was registered. Since when does a hotel discriminate based on cats vs. dogs?We tried to access the internet through the hotels wifi connection to look for another hotel with a vacancy, could not. We decided to lock the cat in the car with her litter box and food, and stay at your hotel rather than try to find another room at 8;30 pm. Is this your companies policy or was there a mistake made?
