“Ugliest hotel room ever!!”

  , Southern
First the good-The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. Now the bad-We were traveling with several other families and we all had the same thought--This is the ugliest hotel room ever! The walls are a mint/seafoam green that would be more appropriate in 1980's Florida or in your grandma's house in the 60's. The comfortors look like cheap patchwork quilts but they are thin, as are the sheets. The ugly brown curtains were obviously just removed from the package and hung up (the crease lines from being folded were quite noticeable), the light fixtures are 1990's brass, and the wall prints looked to be from a dollhouse. Worst of all, there wasn't a stitch of carpet ANYWHERE in the room, not even a rug. The floor covering is a snap together floating laminate floor. Very cold on your feet, especially at 6:30 am. While I think I understand the management's rationale about the flooring, it doesn't make sense if the hallways and lobby have carpet plus it's not comfortable for the guests at all. I don't know what kind of look the design is supposed to be, but it is a hodgepodge of styles and is so ugly, it's hard to be comfortable.Lastly, the pool and hottub were closed for service. I'm not sure what kind of service it is but it was closed at this time last year, too.We have stayed here several times before and although the staff was great, especially the attendant at breakfast, we do not intend to stay here again. I like a room that is as comfortable as home. I want carpet or at least rugs on the floor. I couldn't get comfortable in this room, it was just too hideous. Even the worn rooms from before are better than the "new and improved" versions.
